HEAT TRANSFER IN POROUS MEDIA.

Abstract

The purpose of the investigation was to study the thermal and diffusion characteristics of porous solid materials used as catalysts or catalyst carriers. It is now possible to estimate reasonably well the diffusivity in a porous catalyst using a random pore model. The method is summarized in a publication resulting from work on this project entitled 'Diffusion in Catalyst Pellets' published in Chemical Engineering Science Vol. 17, Page 825 (1962). A paper presenting the experimental measurements of thermal conductivity was published in The Journal of Chemical Engineering Data, Vol. 8, Page 54 (1963).
