THE DRIFT PHOTODIODE,

Abstract

This dissertation presents the analysis of a very narrow, graded base photodiode. The effect of the built-in field in the graded base upon the dark and photocurrents, the relative spectral response, the transient and frequency response are analyzed. The performance of the 'drift photodiode' is compared to that of an homogeneous base one. The results are shown to be of interest for the design of practical units. (Author)
