SOME NUMERICAL CALCULATIONS OF SOUND RADIATION FROM VIBRATING SURFACES.

Abstract

Three particular problems in sound radiation from vibrating surfaces are solved by a method which is based on the numerical solution of the Helmholtz integral equation for the sound pressure at the vibrating surface. Numerical results are given for the near and far field of (1) a circular piston vibrating on the surface of a sphere, (2) the radial pulsations of a finite cylinder, and (3) a narrow zonal piston vibrating on a spheroid. In all cases, the results are considered more accurate than previous values reported in recent literature. (Author)
