MEASUREMENTS OF DISPLACEMENTS OF SPHERICAL CAPS DURING SNAP-THROUGH BUCKLING.

Abstract

Measurements were made of the dynamic buckling displacements of the surfaces of spherical caps during buckling under uniform external pressure. The report presents initial single-point measurements showing relationships between shell geometry and the magnitude of the surface displacements, velocities, and accelerations during buckling. The report also describes the use of the displacement transducer whose sensing element is a photovoltaic cell. (Author)
