HEAT TRANSFER MEASUREMENTS ON CONDENSING SODIUM VAPORS FOR SPACE RADIATOR DESIGN.

Abstract

The note deals with the determination of the heat transfer rates from condensing sodium vapor at vapor temperatures of 680C and 540C. These data are particularly important for the design of a radiator condenser for a turbogenerating power plant for spacecraft. An experimental analysis has been carried out for two different type of condensing tubes. The preliminary theoretical analysis, the experimental apparatus and the results are herewith presented.
