THE INFLUENCE OF SOME OXIDES ON THE REDUCTION OF VARIOUS TYPES OF LEAD-SILICATE GLASS IN HYDROGEN,

Abstract

A method was developed which makes it possible to compare the reducibility of various types when they are heat-treated in a hydrogen atmosphere. A study of the effects of metal oxides on the reducibility of lead-silicate glass revealed oxides which activate and retard reduction. Consideration was also given to the effect of various alkaline metal ions on the reduction of glass with a high content of PbO.
