RESEARCH AND APPLICATIONS PROGRAM FOR A SOLID CHEMILUMINESCENT REACTANT.

Abstract

STELLER us a solid material which, when reacted with a suitable oxidizer, emits chemiluminescent light. The current oxidizer is a solution of ceric ammonium sulfate. Program activities were divided into two experimental tasks. The first task consisted of the production of the STELLER required for the program, determination of the physical and chemical properties of STELLER, sensitivity testing, and an aging and materials compatibility evaluation. The second task consisted of experimental activities which established the parameters which control the chemiluminescent performance (intensity and duration) and optimized the composition of selected formulations.
