INTERACTIONS OF AN ELECTRIC ARC PLASMA WITH TRANSVERSAL MAGNETIC FIELDS AND GAS FLOWS.

Abstract

Calculation is made of the temperature distribution and the flow field in a wall stabilized arc, which is burning in a constant magnetic field perpendicular to the arc axis. The interactions of an arc plasma with an external gas flow are treated for the column of a free burning arc exposed to a homogeneous flow of cold or preheated gas perpendicular to the arc axis, that is to the line between the electrodes. The arc flucture, the flow field and the temperature distribution are calculated.
