RESEARCH ON CHEMICAL SYNTHESIS WITH MONOENERGETIC IONS.

Abstract

A reaction system was developed which is based on the concept that select chemical products can be formed if ions and molecules are brought together in controlled manner. The system was employed for the study of NO2(+) ion and benzene. Numerous exploratory fluorine chemistry experiments were carried out. In connection with the latter it was found that highly reactive, neutral, ion reaction products are capable of storage at liquid nitrogen temperatures, and may be used for reagent purposes. (Author)
