APPLICATION OF THE METHOD OF COMPOSITION TO STRESS-RUPTURE DATA ON STEEL,

Abstract

Data on the time taken for a metallic specimen to fail under a given stress and constant temperature has been fitted by a power law relation and the assumed correlation tested by linear regression analysis. Results show that the stress at which rupture occurs for a given temperature and time can be predicted with a high degree of confidence in this particular case. (Author)
