GALVANIC SERIES OF METALS AS RELATED TO CORROSION.
Abstract
A revised electromotive series has been prepared for use by design engineers. Tables were prepared from experimental data and from available literature references. The experimental work indicated many variables were present in the half-cell potential measurement procedure. Many factors that could have caused deviations in results are discussed. This work provides information as to the location of various alloys previously not included in the electromotive series. The use of the improved table will be of value to the designer for his selection of compatible materials, and enable him to hold the possibilities of galvanic corrosion to a minimum. (Author)
