THE INFLUENCE OF A SCANNING SLIT ON THE LINE PROFILE OBSERVED WITH A SPECTROGRAPH,

Abstract

In a spectrograph the diffraction profile of either a rectangular or a circular opening is folded with the image of two rectangular finite slits-the spectrograph slit and a scanning slit. The resulting intensity distribution has been studied for the two cases, incoherent and coherent illumination of the slit. (Author)
