THE EFFECT OF FLUID INJECTION ON THE INCOMPRESSIBLE LAMINAR BOUNDARY LAYER OVER A SLENDER PARABOLA OF REVOLUTION.

Abstract

The combined effect of transverse curvature and fluid injection on the incompressible laminar boundary layer over a parabola of revolution with zero pressure gradient has been examined. This was done by extending the asymptotic solution of Mark to include the effect of injection. In addition, results for finite values of the transverse curvature were obtained by means of a numerical solution of the differential equation. The results show that transverse curvature retards the injection-induced separation of the boundary layer. This allows for higher injection rates than would otherwise be possible. (Author)
