INVESTIGATION OF SCATTERING PROPERTIES OF A LARGE ARRAY OF INDEPENDENT, ACTIVE X-BAND ELEMENTS.
Abstract
This report describes the predicted and measured characteristics of an 81-element X-band array of integrated spiral antenna-tunnel diode amplifier units. Monostatic scattering patterns are given for in-phase elements and for progressively shifted rows of elements. Theoretical scattering pattern functions are derived for arrays of independent scattering elements. Array radar cross section is compared to a flat conducting plate of similar dimensions. Element and array bandwidth are determined and compared. (Author)
