PRODUCTION OF MOLYBDENUM SINGLE CRYSTALS WITH ELECTRON-BEAM FLOATING ZONE MELT.

Abstract

This paper describes an electron bombardment furnace made in China used to produce refractory metal single crystals. Molybdenum single crystals are prepared and examined, and techniques for the production are described. Miscroscopic examinations reveal numerous terraces on the surfaces of the molybdenum crystals. These terraces are tentatively identified as evaporation terraces. (Author)
