TRICARBAHEXABORANE.
Abstract
Thre major volatile products from the room temperature vapor-phase reaction of tetraborane(10) and acetylene were isolated and structurally characterized. These compounds were identified as C-methyl derivatives of tricarbahexaborane(7), which is the first three-carbon carborane to be reported. A fourth product is believed to be the parent compound, C3B3H7, for which the structure 2,3,4-tricarbahexaborane(7) is proposed.
