SNAP-7A ISOTOPIC POWER SUPPLY FOR BUOYS.

Abstract

One SNAP-7A system was evaluated for approximately four years since its original delivery by the contractor. The performance of the SNAP-7A system deteriorated much more rapidly than predicted, so that its performance after four years is below that predicted at the end of its expected ten-year life. The fault appears to be a deterioration of the thermoelements in the thermoelectric generator of the system. (Author)
