OUTFLOW OF A CONDUCTING GAS JET WITH ALIGNED MAGNETIC FIELD FROM A RECTANGULAR CHANNEL,

Abstract

The flow of an infinitely conducting gas with aligned velocity and magnetic fields out of a rectangular channel of finite width can be solved exactly by transformation to the hodograph plane. This solution was presented in an earlier RAND Memorandum. The present work contains the calculation of the coefficient of contraction of the jet for various values of the basic parameters of the flow. (Author)
