ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL ELASTOMER SYNTHESIS PROGRAM 1958-1966.

Abstract

The Rock Island Arsenal Elastomer Synthesis Program for the period 1958-1966 is reviewed. Overall objectives and general approaches are covered. Detailed objectives, approaches, results and conclusions for twenty four projects are presented - fourteen internal and ten contracts. It is indicated that considerable progress has been made in the development of an elastomer having a combination of low temperature flexibility and resistance to hot oils. One of the biggest problems remaining is improvement in thermal stability of elastomers. Several research problems in this area which might have future potential are listed. (Author)
