OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT OF TIME-SHARING SYSTEMS.

Abstract

The paper describes the Manager program, a set of control techniques developed to provide the computer operator with the means for managing the System Development Corporation's Time-Sharing System. The paper reviews the approach of the SDC system, contrasts some system management techniques with those in use at other large time-sharing installations throughout the country, and describes briefly the operation of the Manager program. Additional details are presented on the visual displays that are a part of the program and are used to illustrate the description of program use. (Author)
