MACHINING AND GRINDING OF NICKEL-AND COBALT-BASE ALLOYS,

Abstract

The report covers the state of the art of metal-removal operations for nickel- and cobalt-base alloys. It describes the methods currently employed for conventional machining, grinding, electrolytic, and chemical-machining processes. The precautions that should be taken to avoid troubles resulting from the characteristics typical of these alloys are pointed out. Nine machining, two grinding, two cutting, and two unconventional metal-removal operations are discussed separately. Other sections discuss the classification of these alloys and their general response to machining variables. (Author)
