THE EFFECT OF COUPLE-STRESSES ON THE STRESS CONCENTRATION AROUND A CRACK.

Abstract

A solution is obtained, within the linearized couple-stress theory of elastic behavior, to the problem presented by a crack of finite length in a uniform field of transverse tension. The results, which are based on the assumption of plane strain, are discussed in detail and compared with their counterpart in classical elastostatics. (Author)
