CONCERNING SOME ELEMENTS OF CHLORELLA PROTEIN STRUCTURE,
Abstract
Treatment of lyophil-dried specimens of chlorella with dichlormethane freed them of the impurities which cause swelling in water solutions. The protein separated from chlorella, regardless of the form of solvent, contains the same N-terminated groups (glutamic acid, methionine and a small quantity of aspartic acid) and C-terminated groups - (tyrosine and arginine). In chlorella, the amount of proteins containing lysine with free amino group is less than the amount of lysine determined after complete hydrolysis of the protein. It is assumed that a portion of the lysine contained in the protein of the chlorella is assimilable. (Author)
