RELATIVE DEPTHS OF LUNAR RING MOUNTAINS AND CRATERS IN THE MARE NUBIUM,

Abstract

Baldwin, in 1949, gave the following formula for expressing the relationship between the diameter D and depth d of lunar craters: lg D = 0.1083(lg d)sq + 0.8035 lg d + 0.6200. Data taken from Ranger VII photographs of the Mare Nubium region now establish that this equation is fairly close representation of actuality.
