ELECTRON GUN PERFORMANCE USING A MODIFIED APPEARANCE POTENTIAL TECHNIQUE.

Abstract

A modified retarding potential difference technique was applied to the electron gun of a time-of-flight mass spectrometer. Performance of the electron gun is described and the controls used are presented schematically. A method is suggested for testing precision of appearance and ionization potential measurements.
