DYNAMIC LOADING RESEARCH FOR TRANSIENT LOAD APPLICATIONS,

Abstract

The research and development program has resulted in the establishment of a unique facility for testing materials to determine mechanical properties related to a specific transient load application. Through the use of the strain gage on the inside surface of the test specimen, the first yielding of the test piece subjected to internal pressure can be tetected without fear of error attributed to outside surface yield readings. In addition to this, experimental correlation of inside and outside surface strains can be established. Good pressure simulation was achieved for the particular transient load requirements. (Author)
