DESCRIPTION OF MECHANICAL BEHAVIOR OF INELASTIC SOLIDS

Abstract

The paper is concerned with the representation of mechanical behavior of non-linear solids with memory. The nature and limitations of integral representation of Frechet are discussed. Definitions of state and state variables, which are based on observable histories, are introduced. These notions give rise to differential equation representation of behavior discussed in the latter part of the paper.
