ON THE OFF-DIAGONAL MASS MATRIX ELEMENT OF THE NEUTRAL K SYSTEM.

Abstract

A recent interference experiment of Fitch et al. has been interpreted as suggesting that the imaginary part of the off-diagonal neutral-K - anti-neutral-K mass matrix is mainly responsible for the observed CP noninvariance in 2-pion decay, whereas the imaginary parts of the width matrices are negligible. In this note a study is made of the consistency of such a proposition with simple theoretical models. (Author)
