HEAT TREATMENT OF TITANIUM AND TITANIUM ALLOYS.

Abstract

The report reviews present heat treatment practices for titanium and titanium alloys. It describes the methods, techniques, and equipment currently employed in the thermal treatment of titanium materials, and the necessary processing considerations and precautions that govern these treatments. The metallurgical background illustrating the principles used in titanium heat treatment is also discussed with respect to alloy classifications, structures, and hardening mechanisms. (Author)
