A SIMULATION STUDY OF ELEVATION ANGLE OF ARRIVAL MEASUREMENTS IN THE WULLENWEBER RDF SYSTEM.

Abstract

The thesis is concerned with a study of the characteristics of the Wullenweber Antenna System, and in particular, determination of the vertical angle of arrival, called the Elevation Angle, of an incoming signal. The study reveals a number of possible methods of determining the elevation angle of an incoming signal, with a view to determining whether or not a practical system does in fact exist. The research involved the following tasks: (1) implementation of each of the various schemes which had been selected for study into a digital computer program; (2) data acquisition through simulation of the system on a digital computer; and (3) synthesis and organization of the data into a form suitable for interpretation.
