DESCRIPTION OF URBAN AREAS FOR FIRE ANALYSIS.

Abstract

For various land use categories, typical blocks and structures were developed for describing an urban area in terms of parameters pertinent to the analysis of fire damage. Information employed consisted of the data from Sanborn maps, dupplied by Dikewood Corporation, and reports of the Cook County and Illinois Inspection and Rating Bureaus. Inquiries were also sent to all cities in the United States having population of 100,000 or more, regarding the data available for identification of physical characteristics of structures. (Author)
