STUDY OF ANTENNA PATTERN SYNTHESIS.

Abstract

An investigation into the foundations of the theory of solid-angle pattern synthesis for planar antennas is reviewed. The principal results include a fundamental principle in the theory of planar antennas, the development of properties of a class of doubly orthogonal functions that are the most natural for representing both aperture and pattern functions, and the derivation of formulas for stored magnetic and electric energies needed to constrain the synthesis solution to insure physical realizability.
