HALF MILLIMETER 'BACKWARD WAVE OSCILLATOR'.

Abstract

The objective of the work was to construct a half-millimeter 'backward-wave' oscillator, with a power level in the range of half a watt. An electron gun, with a beam of about 0.07 millimeter in diameter, was designed and tested. A new type of increased reserve cathode gave encouraging results but should be verified over the high density range.
