EDGE CRACK IN A SEMI-INFINITE SHEET BY POWER SERIES.

Abstract

A power series procedure developed for solving the plane elastic problem for edge notches in a semi-infinite sheet is considered when cracks occur in the notch boundary. The resulting mathematical singularities are considered for the illustrative problem of an edge crack in a semi-infinite sheet. Numerical agreement with Koiter's solution is found in an effective manner. (Author)
