DIRECT EXPLOSION TEST FORWELDED ARMOR AND SHIP PLATE PRIME AND WELDED PLATE TESTS

Abstract

The direct explosion test has been utilized to determine the relative resistance of welded and unwelded specimens to shock loading. The tests were conducted using a special explosive which is detonated in direct contact with the specimen under controlled conditions. Repetive tests have demonstrated the excellent reproducibility of the test.
