ANALYSIS OF NMR SPECTRA BY MEANS OF DOUBLE RESONANCE DATA.

Abstract

The simplest case for which the detailed analysis of the high-resolution nmr spectrum is not trivial is an AMX system of spin-1/2 nuclei. Double resonance (DR) experiments are useful in the analysis. However, the methods reported previously for employing the results of decoupling or tickling experiments on such systems require some care to insure that all but the correct assignment have been eliminated. This note describes and proves the validity of a simple mnemonic method for establishing the relative signs of the coupling constants in an AMX system from DR data. (Author)
