THE TABULAR PARSER: A PARSING PROGRAM FOR PHRASE STRUCTURE AND DEPENDENCY.

Abstract

A comparison of phrase structure and dependency grammars and description of a computer program for parsing sentences concurrently by both systems with cross references. A simple, concise notation system, rule tables, and directions for punched-card input are given for use with a FORTRAN IV program with MAP subroutines. The program itself is the same without regard to language, rules, or directory entries input, and is based on a morsel strategy, described in ALGOL logic. (Author)
