MODULAR ORGANIZATION FOR NODES IN AN ADAPTIVE, HOMEOSTATIC PROCESS-ORIENTED COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM.

Abstract

A modular organization for a communications network node is proposed. Its principal bases are: (1) message format for all information; (2) saturation processing; and (3) a limited purpose, memory-oriented processor. Philosophical principles and a formal model for the system are reviewed. The organization is then presented after a brief discussion of some significant technical assumptions. This is followed by a review of a few possible consequences of the proposed organization. In addition to any possible significance towards immediate system design, the discussion ends with the conclusion that the proposed organization is an indicator of a necessary future direction for Army communications systems development.
