STUDY TO DETERMINE THE OPTIMUM SECTION OF REINFORCED CONCRETE BEAMS SUBJECTED TO BLAST LOADS.

Abstract

This study was performed to determine the combination of parameters which will provide the optimum resistance for reinforced concrete beams subjected to blast loading. The ultimate goal of the study was to enable selection of beams from design charts. Calculations were performed on an electronic digital computer making it possible to include a wide range of variables. The results are summarized in twelve design charts. Recommendations are offered for extending and improving the program. A numerical example illustrating the use of the charts is included in an appendix. (Author)
