MECHANISM OF PHOTOPHOSPHORYLATION.

Abstract

Several aspects of the mechanism of photophosphorylation were investigated. The approaches included: structural degradation; determination of the path of the phosphate-oxygen; the relation of light induced ATPase-reactions to photophosphorylation; the localization of the site of ATP formation; studied with low-potential dyes; new inhibitors and uncouplers and their site of action; the isolation of a new enzyme, ADP-ribose phosphorylase from Euglena, and review of work in the field.
