A MODEL FOR SELECTING, ROUTING AND LOADING AIRCRAFT.

Abstract

This memorandum describes a model for analyzing the problems associated with selecting, routing, and loading military cargo aircraft. Each of these areas has been studied extensively in the past, but no attempt has been made to combine them in a single framework; this memorandum attempts to do so. It first analyzes the routing problem under conditions in which the loading problem can be ignored. Next, it extends the analysis to take account of the loading problem for the more common cases in which it cannot be ignored. Finally, it explores the implications of the model for the selection of aircraft types. (Author)
