INTERACTION BETWEEN THE BOUNDARY LAYER AND THE HYPERSONIC FLOW IN A CONICAL NOZZLE.

Abstract

A discussion is given of the calculation of gas-dynamic parameters of the flow, nozzle calculations, and calculation of the flow in a nozzle of given shape. It is shown that by using an integral continuity equation it is possible to close a system of equations and to solve the problem of supersonic flow in a conical nozzle with allowance for the interaction with the boundary layer. The results of the calculations indicate that, in general, the growth of the boundary layer during hypersonic gas flow in a conical nozzle can lead not only to a marked decrease in the size of the isentropic flow core, but also to the appearance of substantial irregularities in the distribution of all the gas-dynamic parameters in the transverse section of the nozzle.
