PRODUCTION ENGINEERING MEASURE CR-(XM-53)/U QUARTZ CRYSTAL UNITS.
Abstract
This report covers the fourth quarterly period of the combined Production Engineering Measure and Reliability Study on CR-(XM-53)/U crystal units. Special mounting arrangements for 1-megahertz crystals were investigated. 'Claw' mounts could meet the million-Q requirement, but yields were too low to support production and fabrication was difficult. A 'four-point, spring pressure' mounting was derived which gives promise of meeting the CR-(XM-53)/U requirements with reasonable yields: Q levels are good and units are not as sensitive to shock disturbances as the previous designs.
