THE CLOSED CYCLE GAS TURBINE FOR NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS.

Abstract

Design and applications of the closed cycle gas turbine combined with high temperature reactors are discussed. Compared with water reactors and steam turbines, the direct cycle gas system - preferably helium - under elevated pressure gives opportunities to reduce the capital costs and to improve the economy due to higher efficiency. With helium as a working medium and the existing state of arts not only small and medium size but also plants up to 250 MW and more can be built. (Author)
