TELEVISION TWO-DIMENSIONAL LIGHT VALVE AND 143-DEGREE WIDE ANGLE LENS.

Abstract

This investigation provides conclusions based on a subjective evaluation and observations of a television display of real world, real time images projected on a ten-foot radius hemispherical screen. In the experiment described, an existing one hundred forty-three degree lens designed for the thirty-five millimeter film frame format was coupled to an Eidophor projector and the results evaluated, using a segment of the screen. Test results were generally favorable and indicated that this concept is feasible in applications where clarity of image can be traded off for angle of view. (Author)
