FEASIBILITY STUDY OF FAST-SET ELECTROCHEMICAL TIMER.

Abstract

The report covers the work of a feasibility study on a fast-set electrochemical timer. Standard E-CELLs were characterized and found feasible as timers which could be set in 1.5 second for accuracies of plus or minus 5% or plus or minus 1 second over a temperature range of -40 C to +60 C. Diffusion limitations of the cell were explored by testing experimental E-CELLs which had electrolyte concentration changes and electrode texturing changed. Increased electrolyte concentration improves the cell for fast-set applications, but electrode surface roughening is detrimental to accuracy. Recommendations for future work are made. (Author)
