TIME-DEPENDENT DIFFUSE REFLECTION FROM SLABS WITH MULTIPLE SCATTERING.

Abstract

The solution of the time-dependent multiple scattering problem for reflected radiation from homogeneous slabs with a delta-function input. The basic differential-integral equation for the Laplace transform of the reflected radiation is solved computationally. Then the intensity of the reflected radiation is calculated by means of a recently developed numerical procedure for the inversion of Laplace transforms. Sample numerical results are tabulated for five different albedos, for the time histories of the diffuse reflection function for seven incident angles, seven reflected angles, and a thickness of 1.0.
