HIGH TEMPERATURE GAS REFRACTOMETER.

Abstract

A refractometer was designed and constructed for the measurement of the optical dispersion of gases at temperatures up to 1000C. It consisted of a Michelson-type interferometer, in which both arms were enclosed in a furnace. The whole assembly was enclosed in a vacuum. The refractometer could be operated in the visible and near infrared regions of the spectrum. The pressure range of the sample gases was between vacuum and several atmospheres. (Author)
