RARE EARTH ION STUDIES IN OPTICAL CRYSTALS.

Abstract

Results of studies in the following areas are reported in detail: (1) high resolution measurements on the optical absorption and fluorescence spectra of La F3:Pr(3+) and CaF2:Sm(2+) crystals at 300 and 77 K; (2) electron paramagnetic resonance spectra of the S-state ions Gd(3+) and Fu(2+) in crystals of Ca F2 at room temperature.
