ANTENNA PATTERN MEASUREMENTS OF A FULL-SCALE RHOMBIC ANTENNA.

Abstract

Data are given on full-scale HF antenna pattern measurements made by towing a battery-operated transmitter behind an airplane and recording the signal received on the ground. The patterns of a rhombic antenna were measured at 5.1, 9.1, 15.1, and 29.0 mc. Comparison of the measured vertical-plane patterns with theoretical patterns reveals good correlation. In the horizontal plane, repeatability of results is good for large lobes; the equipment did not permit resolving minor lobes accurately. Agreement between the measured and theoretical rhombic patterns indicates the value of the Xeledop technique in the field test work. (Author)
